Young Minds Project

Young Minds Project Fundraising Campaign

The Young Minds Project is a transformative Carle Health fundraising campaign to support the opening of a state-of-the-art behavioral health facility for children and adolescents. Trillium Place Young Minds Center, an affiliate of Carle Health, is planned to open in 2024 in West Peoria, IL. The center will provide inpatient mental health services to children ages 4-17 and outpatient mental health and addiction recovery services. These specialized services will help address a growing need in our area. The new facility will also innovate our team’s service delivery to provide care in an environment designed to support the behavioral health concerns our youth are facing today.

The Young Minds Project will fund the construction and renovations of a large property purchased in the city of West Peoria. Formerly a nursing home, the facility will be made into a one-of-a-kind youth-centered behavioral health center called Trillium Place Young Minds Center.

The budget for the new building is $24 million with a goal to raise $12 million through community philanthropic support. Contributions to this project will support capital renovations and ongoing growth and innovation of services – all to provide the best care possible to children and families seeking behavioral health care. Every gift makes a significant difference in the lives of the children of our communities.

Together, we can make a positive impact for our kids. Donate to the project today and make this state-of-the-art behavioral health center possible for the youth of our communities.

The Need for Youth Mental Health Services

Building upon a strong legacy of service, Carle Health will expand access to critical mental health services for children and  adolescents. This investment in behavioral healthcare dates back to 1954, when Methodist Medical Center opened the first adult mental health inpatient unit in Peoria. In 1988, a specialized inpatient unit for adolescents was opened, which expanded in 1996 to serve children as young as 4 years of age.

Each month, an average of 60 children and adolescents are admitted for inpatient services at Carle Health Methodist Hospital. Due to an increased need, approximately 2,600 youth in the last five years were referred to services outside of the Peoria area. Our goal is to keep care close to home – and families close together – serving every child in need of mental health services right here in our community.

The new center will help make this goal possible. Trillium Place Young Minds Center will increase access to services by expanding both inpatient and outpatient care for youth. The center will be the first of its kind in many ways. It will be a one-stop location for youth services by offering counseling, psychiatry, crisis services, inpatient behavioral health services and outpatient mental health and addiction recovery services all in one location. The center is planned to open in 2024.

Together, we can make a positive impact for our kids. Donate to the project today and make this state-of-the-art behavioral health center possible for the youth of our communities.
